Making this piece was a delight.
The top is made from bookmatched mesquite boards, finished with a wipe on varnish so that it fairly glows.
The legs, struts and cross pieces are all shaped with curves that give the table a light, modern look.
Most often, mesquite pieces are executed in a Spanish colonial or Mexican rustic design. In this case, however, the Scottsdale clients wanted using the Southwest's signature wood species, but let loose of traditional design conventions to opt for a far more modern look.
