As a Tucson furniture maker, Wood Works receives numerous commissions for projects made of mesquite. In this case a Scottsdale client asked for a sofa table made of natural edge mesquite with turquoise inlay. The client also asked that the table legs be sculpted from mesquite. The table top is approximately six feet long and two inches thick. The wood's natural cracking is filled with blackened epoxy resin infused with turquoise stones. The legs are made from six inch by six inch square mesquite posts that I sculpt using specialized grinding and cutting tools. The posts are placed atop sculpted platform pieces to provide stability to the piece as a whole.
